The scientific name of carrot is “Daucus carota” which is a root vegetable. Carrots come in red, purple, white, orange and yellow color varieties but usually seen in orange color. It is believed that carrots have originated in Central Asia, in the hills of Kashmir and Punjab in India, with a secondary center of distribution in Asia, North Africa and Europe. It is widely cultivated in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, east Africa, West Africa, South America and The Caribbean.
